 SILENCE  OF  A  RIVER

Where is the stretched sand fields ?

That once were the boundaries on both sides,

Where locals  enjoyed the sunset.

Where is the green and the crystal  water ?

That was the elixir  for thousands !

Where is the fisher men ?

Which once made the river busy and lively.

Where is the barges  and heavily loaded boats ?

That sailed day and night !

Where are the tea-shops ?

That once were the centre of exchanges.

Where are the tasty fishes ?

Those were healthy and wealthy for many!

Where are the ferry boats ?

Which were the only way to cross the river .

Where are the beautiful scenery ?

Which made the poets'  pen move !

Why are you silent ?

Who made the deep wounds on your hearts ?

Who made your lap  muddy sluggish ?

Who dubbed the waste  on your face ?

Tell me , why are you exploited over and over ?

Where is the beauty that millions enjoyed over years. ?

Still you are silent ! as though in deep meditation !

Where has gone the smile that once shone on your face ?

Now you seem so sad , what happened to you ?

Speak some thing ,just a smile - please !

You are still silent , unable to utter a word ,

Just look around, without feeling, without passion !

I know you understand every thing; can recognise us,

But staring with fear and without hope ,

Oh ! you are breathing your last ....!

Still silent ! .....silence .....silence..... .

THE NIGHT

Still bright, though in silence, the landscape

Smiles to the beloved, the moon, above.

The breeze pushes away the clouds envious

Interlude which in between !

The waves her lull to sleep

The glory of their mistress , the birds praise.

The mist sets the ready thick blanket

Ensure her the slumbering peaceful and calm.

The wind , it's strength    minimised

To keep falling nuts ripen;

And sounds ,hissing and roaring

Which lose her quietness.

The groom, with side ways, peeps

The sleeping love. While the stars him escort

Singing and dancing. The angels  for the delayed rise appealed

For their happy moments eternal !

                   CYCAS  TREE

Once it was very prosperous and plenty especially  in the low lying areas and river sides. But it is a rare sight. Even today people use the sago seeds as food ,highly immunable from several diseases. It's reported that these trees have been displaced and cut by various agencies as a planned project.A tree normally takes a span of 20--25 years for yielding ,and it can survive more than two hundred years.

                        EASY  WINGS

With limited desires,  the little wings

To long distances

Return and relax when aims fulfilled.

Unmindful on tomorrows, concerned only today

Which reduce the worries unwanted.

A day's meal is enough to satisfy,

The rest of the time spend

To LIVE !

No quarrel in and out the nest

To the youngsters ideal they be.

In sheltering specially mastered they are

Apt safe from warm and winter

To foresee the disasters

Inner eyes they have,

And united they are to face the enemies.

Forget the present, busy on tomorrows

The intelligent ones,

Amassing over and over

With jealous and greed

Just pave the way ,alas,

To problems and worries,

Hence forget to LIVE !

THE PANORAMIC VIEW OF CHALIYAR RIVER. KERALA-INDIA.

once it was the proud of Malabar, thousands of people depended it directly and indirectly. Before the advance of road transportation the river was the only way to travel and transport their products as a water way .But the fame and proud have diminished a lot because of the sand mining and negligence from the authorities.

ROOTS

No doubt, roots the energizer and supporter,

As deep and deep it grows,

The grip and growth stronger

Capable to resist the storms!

Can grasp, even from the remote, the energy

Which will strengthen the branches,

Cool, shade and consolation for the needy

Fragrance of the flowers keep the foul smell away.

The more the roots grow, the more the branches,

The high and the powerful would be,

That enable to have along outer view

Which the ordinary ones lack!

Invisible the roots but realized in the presence,

The body, in and out, is powerful

Unfortunately if it is being cut down

New twigs come out, able to reproduce the same kind!
